Artist talk on 1.11. at 5pm, moderated by Tobias Haberl (in German) | Gasteig

In German, English and French, partly with German subtitles

DEATH AND BIRTH IN MY LIFE is about the existential transition experiences of the beginning and the end of life, and how we ourselves are changed by births and deaths. Mats Staub brought together two people in Munich, Manchester, Dublin, and Johannesburg respectively and filmed them while they were having a conversation about birth and death. So far, the long-term project has been shown in the context of theatres and museums, and it was also a part of SPIELART 2019. Now Mats Staub has developed a format which takes place in a more intimate setting and can nevertheless be a collective experience: people living in Munich have the possibility to become hosts of the project and to show the films in their own living room on one or several evenings. This way, DEATH AND BIRTH IN MY LIFE can be shown in many different places in the city and facilitates an exchange with acquaintances, relatives and neighbours.

You can become a host of the project and organise one or several evenings in your living room. You can select between various films which last just under an hour (in German, English, or French). On the date agreed for handover, you will receive a box with a mini beamer, the films you selected and the project documents. When you have fixed a date for the event, you can invite persons from your social environment – relatives, acquaintances, neighbours, colleagues. You are free to determine the time and the number of guests.
