The participatory performance BODY OF KNOWLEDGE is an invitation to dialogue. There is no one on stage, but the telephone rings – the voices at the other end of the line are teenagers, and they have a few questions: on physicality in general, on sexuality, pleasure, shame, grief, consent, pain, ageing and death. In an intimate setting, the theatre director Samara Hersch investigates how adolescents and adults conduct complex conversations about their bodies. The combination of pizza, cosy blankets and music gives rise to a dialogue between the generations that functions as a mutual search for answers and ideas.

Samara Hersch is a theatre maker, director and teaching artist whose practice explores the intersection of contemporary performance and community engagement. She recently graduated with a Masters at DAS Theatre in Amsterdam. Her current research is an exploration into public acts of intimacy, particularly through imagining new performative frames for non-professional performers and audiences to inhabit.
