Since Capitalism places a higher premium on the movement of trade goods than on the humans and the conditions in which those goods are produced, art and cultural practice places its own pristine value on the artists and their work. NOTHING TO DECLARE, that thing which only a human being can do, is the landing strip where new, future-facing ideas intersect with ancient stories of hope and courage in the face of trauma, loss and displacement. The Kreativquartier becomes the site where sharing practices of beer brewing, eating, dance, contemporary modes of storytelling and authoring take place.
It transforms into a testing ground where theatre makers, visual and performance artists display the outcomes of their artistic research – as first steps, brief reflection pauses, or a potential final destination.
HALLE 6 Studios 1 & 2 host installations, lectures and research projects of Russel Hlongwane | Tammy Langtry and Angelinah Maponya. While the workshop there hosts the installation, film screening and performance-miniatures of Unpleasant Affairs (Caroline Kapp | Manon Haase) and Sandra Chatterjee. The Kreativquartier also serves as the starting point for Unpleasant Affairs’ PLANTAGE DACHAU bus tour.
The collectives, fachbetrieb rita grechen, G.Urban & di. Studio, erect the Armenian BISETKA: TALK_PLACE as it infiltrates PATHOS with installation, durational performances and DJ-sets. Pankaj Tiwari stages a paper planes invasion and tent occupation of MUCCA.
Across the labyrinthine site, Netzwerk Münchner Theatertexter*innen invites Ursula Gisemba and Olga Prusak to a two round literature sparring bout where excerpts from their works will be read at ZIRKA Studio. These contemporary oracles and wordsmiths illuminate minds with thoughtful insights and linguistic pyrotechnics. In video and performance Flinh traces desires and confessions on fragments of reflections of sky. Tony Miyambo, Rajesh Nirmal and Imaad Majeed stage a coup d’état and build bridges over at ZIRKA – a creative marathon of theatre and lecture performances and storytelling.
Furthermore, films by Quynh Le Nguyen, Stella Deborah Traub and Dorine Mokha | Frank Moka will be presented at ZIRKA Studio.
