THE MAKING OF PINOCCHIO
Cade & MacAskill (Glasgow)
Schedule
Within the setting of a live-action film shooting, the two artists, partners not only in their professional lives, reflect and accompany Ivor MacAskill’s gender-affirming surgery as well as their own romantic relationship. In the story of the lying wooden doll that wants to be a “real boy”, ideas about authenticity and variable truths articulate with playful humour – alongside the question about what it means to be regarded as “real”. The piece is a cheerful hybrid artwork uniting experiments with film and live transmission, thereby creating a diverse world situated between various realities and fantasies. This aims to particularly explore a queer space of experience and imagination capable of illustrating the world.
THE MAKING OF PINOCCHIO is intended as a subversive and complex work by and for trans persons, simultaneously opening up to a broader audience.
