OPEN CALL – NON-ALIGNED NEWSREELS

Non-Aligned Newsreels brings together works, images and archive material on decolonisation movements in dialogue with the voices of past and present struggles for emancipation.

Filmmaker Mila Turajlić is offering a workshop on extraordinary archives: films shot in Africa and Asia by Yugoslav cameraman Stevan Labudović. Created as a gesture of solidarity between Yugoslavia and other peoples, these images transport us to the heart of the struggle for liberation.

Take part in this participatory workshop on 19 October 2025 from 12 – 5pm, at HochX Theater und Live Art, to explore, comment on and revive these archives through oral storytelling. 

We are looking for participants from the following countries: 
Former Yugoslavia, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Ghana, Guinea, Egypt, Algeria, Indonesia, India and Sudan.

The workshop is open to all generations: 
come and share your stories, your memories, your ideas – and help give this filmed history a new voice.
