We would like SPIELART Festival to be accessible for as many people as possible. As of the beginning of 2025, the accessibility advisory board has lent its support to us during this process. Together, we have been developing measures to reduce physical, sensory, and social barriers. Please find all information on accessibility on this site.

SPIELART partners with Kulturraum München e.V.. People affected by low income may register as KulturGast here to receive free tickets.
If purchasing a ticket is a financially challenging undertaking for you at this point, please let us know which event you would like to visit. We will not ask any questions.

Venue Accessibility
Einstein Kultur
Einstein Kultur is located in the basement of its building and is accessible via stairs as well as its barrier-free entrance. There are two designated parking slots for people with disability in front of the Einsteinstraße entrance. The barrier-free entrance leads from the building’s courtyard to an elevator. Please notify the staff if you would like to use the elevator:

On site, you may use the “Foyer” doorbell. You will then be picked up in front of the entrance. From the main entrance, several stairsteps lead into the basement. The stairwell has handrails on both sides. The venue houses four halls within the vault cellar. A spacious foyer is situated before the halls. The halls themselves present no thresholds. A wheelchair-accessible toilet is located in the basement. The emergency escape route leads from the stairwell to the ground floor and from there to the outside. Please find more information here.
HALLE 6
There is a threshold at the main entrance. There are no thresholds within the building. There are no wheelchair-accessible toilets. Emergency escape routes are clearly marked. Please find more information here.
Haus der Kunst
Haus der Kunst offers a private designated parking space for people with disabilities located behind the building. There are two ramps in front of the main entrance. The stairwells within the building feature handrails on both sides. High-contrast signage is present within the building. A wheelchair-accessible toilet is available. HochX Theater und Live Art
HochX Theater offers no private parking spaces for people with disabilities. The theatre itself may be reached via a ramp from Entenbachstraße, which is clearly and recognisably marked from the outside. The theatre is also accessible at ground level from Falkenstraße. The main entrance door is two metres wide and leads over a 3-centimetre threshold. The rooms are all situated on the ground floor, and there are no uneven bumps in the floor. A wheelchair-accessible toilet is available on-site. Emergency exit routes are clearly marked and lead from both the main and secondary entrances to the outside. Köşk
The approach to Köşk has one stairstep. A mobile ramp can be produced. The event room is level with the ground floor.
Muffathalle
Muffathalle is located on the premises of Muffatwerk. The main entrance is clearly marked and accessible via a permanent ramp. The ramp features handrails on both sides. The main entrance door is devoid of any thresholds, as is the event space itself. Emergency exit routes are clearly marked and lead to the Muffathalle front yard. Münchner Kammerspiele / Schauspielhaus
Schauspielhaus is part of Münchner Kammerspiele. There are two designated parking spaces for people with disabilities in Maximilianstraße as well as two additional ones in Falckenbergstraße. The cultural venue may be reached barrier-free, and it is also clearly marked from the outside. Within the building, there is a threshold at the approach to the theatre hall. There are sloping paths with a three-percent incline in the halls. The balcony at Schauspielhaus is only accessible via stairwells. The stairs feature handrails on both sides. The stalls may be reached via the ground floor without using stair steps. Schauspielhaus has a wheelchair-accessible toilet on-site. Please find more information here.
Münchner Kammerspiele / Werkraum
Werkraum is part of Münchner Kammerspiele. There are two designated parking spaces for people with disabilities. The main entrance may be reached via a one-step staircase or a ramp with a seven-percent incline. The event hall is situated on the third floor and is accessible barrier-free. The stairs or, alternatively, an elevator may be used. The elevator features an optical display, a voice output and braille script with raised characters. Access to the event hall is possible via a ramp with a nine-percent incline. Wheelchair seating is in the front row. A wheelchair-accessible toilet is available on the first floor. Münchner Volkstheater
Münchner Volkstheater is accessible and features three different stages. These stages are on the ground floor as well as on the first floor. Each stage room has designated wheelchair seating and wireless broadcasting systems. Each floor can be reached accessibly via an elevator. From the pavement on Tumblingerstraße, a tactile guiding system leads to the main entrance of the Volkstheater. The main entrance doors can be opened via a button next to the door on the right. In the building, the tactile guiding system continues on to the reception. The signage in the building is clearly marked and rich in contrast. The elevator features an optical display and raised buttons with braille and voice output. Volkstheater offers five parking spaces for people with disabilities within the underground car park. PATHOS theater
PATHOS theater has a ground-level theatre hall. Two steps lead to the entrance. Within the building, there is one step on the way to the theatre hall. The accessible entrance leads to a blue door via a cobblestone path. Following this, you will arrive in a courtyard. The accessible entrance has a five-centimetre step. There are two marked emergency exit routes. The theatre has a layout of 160 square metres. Please find more information here.
Residenztheater
Residenzhteater has two designated parking spaces for people with disabilities in front of the entrance. The theatre consists of an entrance area, one theatre hall, and a bar. The bar is situated on the 1st floor and only accessible via a staircase. The main entrance is accessible via a wide ramp. This ramp features a handrail. The main entrance door can be opened by a door opener button. There are several door thresholds within the building. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet on-site. Signposts in the building are clearly marked and utilise pictograms. The theatre offers seating capacity for up to 880 people. Please find more information here.
schwere reiter
schwere reiter is a detached new construction in the creative quarter area. The building stands out because of its steel girder façade. The building has been constructed to be completely on ground level. There is a rain gutter running concurrently to the front side. The main entrance consists of two glass doors. The doors automatically open, swinging outward. There is a floor grille before the entrance, and there is three-centimetre gap between the floor grille and the entrance door. In the middle in front of the entrance area, there is a shaft cover in the ground. This shaft cover has not been recessed on ground level; therefore, there is a small bump around the shaft cover edges. The entrance area has been made to be light and expansive. Theatiner Filmtheater
Theatiner Filmtheater may only be reached via one staircase. The staircase has handrails on both sides and more than ten steps. In the cinema auditorium, there is a staircase located at the exit with a handrail in the middle of the stairs. Toilets may be reached via two steps. Emergency exit routes are situated on both sides of the cinema auditorium. Please find more information here.

Tickets for People with Disability and Accompanying Persons
People with disability pay a reduced entrance fee while one accompanying person will receive a free ticket. Tickets may be booked with München Ticket: barrierefrei@muenchenticket.de and +49 89 54 81 81 91, or directly with us.
Seats for wheelchair users, deaf and/ or visually impaired persons will be located in the front row. Please reach out to us if certain seats should be reserved for the accompanying person. As a general rule, the next seat will be reserved.

Early Boarding
Early Boarding means early entrance, at the earliest 30 minutes before the performance starts, about 10 minutes before general admission. This is an offer for people who would like to arrive early to find a suitable seat and get used to the room.

Information on Language Use and Supertitles
Most events are offered with supertitles in German and English. Many of the invited stagings also manage without any language at all or with a minimum of spoken language. They are therefore suitable for people with hearing impairments as well as for an international audience. Please find all information on language and supertitles on the respective production pages.

We offer a plain language introduction for the following productions:
Sign Language Translation
The performance SCORED IN SILENCE by deaf artist Chisato Minamimura will be staged in English spoken language with German supertitles. Additionally, Woojer™ belts will be provided at the performance. These devices translate music into tactile impulse and make the music tangible.
Audio Description
For blind and visually impaired people, we offer audio description in combination with tactile tours at selected productions. Please make your reservation early, one day before the performance at the latest.

Productions FOR EVERYONE
The accessibility advisory board selected two international productions that have thoroughly reduced barriers:
Chisato Minamimura SCORED IN SILENCE
1. Content warning
This piece is about war and atomic bombs; its context is the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. There are explicit depictions of death and corpses. Audism, ableism, and forced sterilisation will be brought up by those affected.
2. Information on accessibility
- Performance duration will be 50 minutes.
- There will be no intermission.
- The performance will be in British Sign Language with International Signs, in English spoken language and with German supertitles.
- The performances on October 22nd and 23rd 2025 will offer a German audio description as well as a tactile tour.
- Woojer™ belts that translate music into tactile impulse will be provided, transferring sounds onto the body as vibrations. These Woojer™ belts will be available on the seats of the forward rows. At the start of the performance, the use of the bass belts will be explained in BSL as well as in English and German spoken language.
- The production is an Early Boarding and Relaxed Performance.
- Trained admittance personnel will be available to gladly assist with your performance visit.
- There will be a simple language introduction before the performance. The date will be announced on this website in good time.
Michael Turinsky WORK BODY

WORK BODY deals with the body, work, and political identity – inspired by Pier Paolo Pasolini’s poem about Antonio Gramsci. In a blend of dance, song, and performance, Michael Turinsky dissects the relation between disability, masculinity, and class consciousness – while positioning the disabled body at the centre.
2. Information on accessibility
- Performance duration will be 85 minutes.
- There will be no intermission.
- This is an English-language performance with English and German supertitles.
- The performance on November 1st will offer a German audio description as well as a tactile guided feel tour.
