ZUSAMMEN ODER GETRENNT? [TOGETHER OR SEPARATELY?]
God's Entertainment (Vienna)
Schedule
“Together or separately?” – a question most often asked when paying at the conclusion of a restau rant visit. What could, in a metaphorical sense, be perceived as an act of solidarity seems to have become very brittle in the context of social community: Following their large-scale project GGGNHM – guggenheim in münchen? at Max-Joseph-Platz, which dealt with labour migration and the power of language, the collective God’s Entertainment will look at the way we live together as a society during this SPIELART edition. In times when democracies start faltering, populist forces increasingly attempt to define community by marking distinction from “the others”. At various venues throughout the Munich cityscape, two Lorries and one jukebox become a mobile stage, to be transformed into gallery, cinema and performance spaces: a “gallery to go” inviting passersby to share their perspectives, negotiate positions, to think new thoughts – and to experience community not through demarcation, but rather by shared experiences and solidarity.
Biography
God’s Entertainment consider art as a space of social encounter and political debate – always on the lookout for tension-filled force fields and the conquest and shifting of established or limiting forms of perception. Whether in theatres, in galleries and museums or in public spaces: Social reality and the potential for its change always lie at the centre of attention in the poetic and surrealist works produced by God’s Entertainment.
