TEENAGE SONGBOOK OF LOVE AND SEX
Alexander Roberts & Ásrún Magnúsdóttir (Trondheim | Reykjavík)
TicketsSchedule
Love and sex – these are topics bursting with contradictions, expectations, uncertainties, and longing: in the “Teenage Choir of Love and Sex”, a project out of Reykjavík, teens sing about what’s really on their minds. They write the songs themselves, in their own words, and from their own perspectives. And for every performance, there’s a new line-up: in each city and town it visits, local teens come by to rehearse, perform together, and expand the group’s repertoire: this is a choir that not only performs, but also forges connections. It shows the sense of community that emerges when everyone gives each other space – for their own uncertainties and doubts, but also for clearly held positions and a desire to express themselves. Away from heteronormative standards, the group lends new forms and meanings to the big issues. “Grow up! Grow up!” they sing – directed both to themselves and the audience – and in their “Songbook”, they find comfort and community, while also having a lot of fun.
