Info

With combative gestures, biting humour, and a heavy dose of irony, Christiane Rösinger’s agitpop revue deconstructs the “myth of the middle class”, examines class affiliations, and grapples with the buzzword that is “classism”. Along with her diverse ensemble, Rösinger – a columnist for the Berlin newspaper taz, founder of the Lassie Singers, daughter of smallholders, and all-round Berlin cultural heavyweight – follows in the footsteps of Erwin Piscator’s proletarian REVUE ROTER RUMMEL with a perfectly balanced blend of entertainment and in-depth analysis of (class) relations today. The performers include Austrian author and satirist Stefanie Sargnagel and writer Paula Irmschler, alongside other experts on “escape routes”. A musical evening featuring a live band that will leave the audience with a resonant vision of collective solidarity.

Biography

Christiane Rösinger is a musician and author, known for her bands Lassie Singers and Britta. Her songs and books incorporate feminism, critiques of capitalism, and life in Berlin. Alongside her journalistic work, she has campaigned for feminist support of upcoming artists in the music scene. In 2019, she directed her first production, STADT UNTER EINFLUSS, at HAU's invitation. This was followed by PLANET EGALIA (2021) and DIE GROSSE KLASSENREVUE (2023), the latter of which was nominated for the Berliner Theatertreffen in 2024.

Paula Irmschler was born in Dresden in 1989 and now lives in Cologne. She has written columns for Intro, Neues Deutschland, and Musikexpress. From 2019 to 2023, she was the editor of satirical magazine Titanic, and 2020 saw the publication of her novel SUPERBUSEN, which was followed in 2024 by ALLES IMMER WEGEN DAMALS.

Pham Minh Duc was born in 1991 in Aue-Bad Schlema, Germany, and now lives in Berlin. In 2019, he completed a diploma in exhibition design and scenography at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe (HfG), and has also studied performance and design theory as a visiting student of the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK). With works that span visual and performance art, Pham Minh Duc explores the theme of identity at the intersection of gender, race, and class.

Albertine Sarges was born in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg in 1987 and studied musicology in Leipzig. She works as a freelance musician, and is active both in the worlds of theatre and pop music.

Izzy Ment has toured across Europe as a multi-instrumentalist and worked with international bands, poets, and installation artists.

Julie Miess was born in Karlsruhe in 1972 and has been living in Berlin since 1991. Holding doctorates in cultural studies as well as music, Julie Miess played bass in Britta, founded the band Half Girl, and is one half of the duo Motörcat. Since 2021, she has been involved in Christiane Rösinger’s theatre projects as both a performer and musician. Alongside her artistic practice, she also conducts academic research into monsters and books.

Sila Davulcu was born in Istanbul in 1982, grew up in Kreuzberg in Berlin, and is part of the so-called ‘third generation” of Germans with Turkish roots: Sila Davulcu’s grandmother arrived in Berlin from Turkey at the end of the 1960s as a guest worker, gradually sending for her children to join her as time went by. As a child, she loved singing and acting in the theatre. She never had the self-belief to dedicate herself to these passions as a career, however, instead following the prescribed path of primary school – high school – vocational training – job.

Stefanie Sargnagel studied painting at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien under Daniel Richter, but spent more time at her bread-and-butter job at a call centre. She has worked as a freelance writer since 2016 and has subsequently spent more of her time with her tax advisor. As part of the awarding of the 2016 Ingeborg-Bachmann-Preis, she received the BKS-Bank-Publikumspreis. Both of her published books, STATUSMELDUNGEN and DICHT, have been bestsellers.

Andreas Schwarz a.k.a. Herr Schwarz (a.k.a. Krah-Krah) is one of the most important figures in Berlin’s underground electro-punk art and party scenes. The artist, singer, and performer organises the ICH BIN EIN BERLINER(IN) festival at SO36, is involved in the alternative club night CHANTAL’S HOUSE OF SHAME, and maintains a high profile in the scene through his avant-garde performances.

Doreen Kutzke, who grew up in the GDR, is a multi-disciplinary musician, actor, and composer from Berlin. She performs internationally under the alias Kutzkelina, founded the Jodelschule Kreuzberg, and teaches yodelling and vocal techniques all over the world. She has worked as a voice tutor at institutions such as the Art Academy Reykjavik, Goldsmith University London, and the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK), and has collaborated with artists such as Hermann Nitsch, Element of Crime, and Myriam Van Imschoot.

In 2019, Austrian multi-instrumentalist Lex Landergott toured with queer icon Peaches, performing at famous venues such as the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Kampnagel in Hamburg, and the Volksbühne in Berlin. Lex Landergott is currently a member of the musical acts Ja, Panik, and Fuffifufzich and works in theatre as a musical director. They have also been involved in a longstanding collaboration with the theatre collective copy & waste, which was awarded the Tabori Preis – Fonds Darstellende Künste in 2018.

Meike Schmitz studied literature, Latin America studies, and dramaturgy at the Theaterakademie Hamburg. Active with the Deutsches Theater in Berlin from 2009 to 2014, in 2013 she co-founded Die Heitere Fahne in Bern, where she continues to direct the inclusive theatre collective Frei_Raum. She has staged works at venues including HAU – Hebbel am Ufer, Theater Bremen, and Theater Thikwa. Since 2019, she has worked in close creative partnership with Christina Rösinger; together, they have staged STADT UNTER EINFLUSS, PLANET EGALIA, and DIE GROSSE KLASSENREVUE.
