NON-ALIGNED NEWSREELS – VOICES FROM THE DEBRIS
Mila Turajlić (Belgrade | Paris)
Schedule
Serbian artist and documentary filmmaker Mila Turajlić will transform Kunstraum FLORIDA into a walk-in archive of the Non-Aligned Movement – that historic alliance in which Yugoslavia joined with countries from the Global South on equal footing and which became a project of lived solidarity, cultural agency, and international independence. The installation will collect photos, books, texts, and film footage from workshops in Mozambique, Sharjah and Belgrade; contemporary witnesses, activists, artists and interested visitors spontaneously reacted to the film material – a polyphonous dialogue on past and present emerged. In this way, Mila Turajlić creates a living archive between remembrance, identity, and political awakening, posing the question of what remains of the “Non-Aligned” – in a world that urgently needs new forms of international solidarity.
